For example, if the alarm should sound at night all household lights can be set to come on in an instant, as would the CCTV system and cameras can monitor the point at which the alarm was triggered allowing an immediate diagnosis of the situation. Any of these systems can now be controlled by in-wall or wireless touch screens, they can be used to surf the Internet or to watch visitors arriving at the front gates or door, before talking to them or letting them in.
Equally, if you are working away from home or are on vacation, your smart home can also emulate your ‘normal’ living pattern and can be set re-enact 2 weeks of your lifestyle switching lights on and off as if you were in the property. It is also possible for you to control the lights and/or view the CCTV system by means of mobile phone or internet whilst you are away.
Video Door Entry
An unexpected ring at the doorbell can be daunting, invasive or simply ‘at the wrong time’. Your video door monitor lets you see the caller without you being seen or going to the door to open it. Alternatively, you can also converse with the person at the door via an intercom. It’s the perfect way to distinguish welcome visitors from unwanted door-to-door solicitors. CCTV
For added security, discrete cameras can be positioned around the outside (or inside) of a home to give views of any areas that may be considered vulnerable spots and which need to be monitored.
Modern cameras can produce excellent images, even at night, which can be recorded on a digital video recorder with a hard drive. Digital images can be made available for playback in an instant; a hard copy can be made to disc for evidence, or accessed via the internet remotely.
Cameras can also be fed to the TV distribution system of a home and viewed on any TV that is connected.
