Project 1 – CEDIA’s “Best Special Project” winner 2008

The project involved the creation of a stunning five screen video wall capable of displaying programmes from a variety of sources. Control needed to be simple and effective and the client was adamant that no touch-screen panels or wireless control panels were to be used. A single programmable infra red control was chosen for the job which worked very well whilst meeting the client’s specifications.

This London property has been converted from a commercial building and there was a higher than normal involvement in the design and construction of the housing and decorative features. The system had to fit into an existing space and the visual look had to fit in with the stylish interior.

The five screen video wall, which consisted of a central 60” Pioneer plasma display and four 23” Humax LCD TV’s had to feature removable front panels in order to cover the large false wall as well as the three front speakers. A laser cut steel sheet was designed and made to fit exactly around the five screens while leaving just enough exposed for infra red operation.

“This was the first time that we had entered the CEDIA Awards are we are delighted to have won the best special project category. It is wonderful to have received national recognition, for such a specialised project, by the industry’s governing body”.
